RLE International are working on behalf of their prestigious Automotive Client based in Gaydon, and are recruiting for a Delivery Engineer - Steering Systems to support and join their expanding team.

Job Description:
The role is for a Delivery Engineer (Component Owner) supporting the Lead Engineer with the design and development of steering systems from concept through to production.
As a group, Chassis Systems are responsible for the design, engineering and releasing of the following systems and components: Wheels & tyres, foundation brakes, suspension, steering, subframes, springs & dampers, roll control, active chassis controls and powertrain mounting systems across all future and current car lines. This role focuses on supporting the Steering team to engineer and integrate the steering system into the wider vehicle architecture - both mechanical & electrical.
Responsibilities and skills:
1. Support the design & delivery of Steering Systems.
2. Work with the Lead engineer, Concept and Attribute teams to create packaging and attribute requirements for front and rear steering systems including steering columns.
3. Liaise with external suppliers to design and develop systems and components that meet specified requirements and targets, ensuring parts are delivered on time and to the required quality standard.
4. Work with Vehicle Line Managers to enable swift and accurate deployment of components and systems across all vehicle model lines.
5. Work with Software, Electrical and Vehicle Attribute teams to deliver components which meet performance targets and freeze dates.
6. Support DFMEAs, quality history reviews, robustness studies, DVP and Final Engineering Sign Off reporting.
7. Support CAE work and rig testing for component and system validation.
8. Support vehicle and rig tests with prototype components where required.
9. Track and report status versus targets, create reference material and best practice documentation to aid 'Right First Time' component delivery.
10. Responsible for planning and prioritising their own workload to meet department and wider business objectives. Assistance with engineering support for other chassis components may be required at peak times.
11. Good communication required with internal customers from the Chassis R&D, Vehicle Attribute Engineering, Programme and Commodity delivery teams and the wider business. Day-to-day working with external suppliers of chassis assemblies and sub-components, rig test houses and proving grounds.
12. Responsible for delivering chassis components and systems to target budget for investment and piece cost.
13. Components to be designed and engineered to meet targets for attribute performance, manufacturability, assembly and service. Accountability for releasing and final engineering sign off suspension components.
14. To support problem solving/quality teams as directed by management and the Lead Engineer.
15. You will be required to comply with all policies and procedures issued by and on behalf of the company.
16. Travel to supplier sites within the UK and abroad WILL be required. Travel between sites might be necessary during DVP testing and prototype build phases.

Experience Required:
1. Excellent experience of chassis or other hardware systems delivery with software integration at an automotive OEM or automotive Tier 1 supplier.
2. Competent in all Microsoft Office applications.
3. Knowledge of Engineering Quality processes and tools such as D-FMEA, 6-sigma, 8D.
4. Ability to work as part of a small team and actively participate in creation and development of innovative design solutions within the R&D environment.
Experience Preferred:
1. Knowledge of chassis hardware components design and delivery.
2. Experience with generating and updating timing plans.
3. Knowledge of MISSION or an equivalent Product Creation System such as GPDS, FPDS, AMPCS.
