We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to be responsible for co-ordinating and reporting on the airport’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) function and strategy as well as taking the lead on delivering the airport’s Surface Access Strategy. Responsibilities Supporting the Chief Development Officer (CDO) in delivering the airport’s ESG programme. Tasks may include but are not limited to the following: · Implement, manage and take ownership of the company’s ESG strategy and ensure its effective delivery; · Working closely with the Environment team to maintain oversight of all commitments in the airport’s recently published Sustainability Strategy; · Coordinate and deliver day-to-day progress against commitments in the Sustainability Strategy – including a tracker against all commitments with regular and detailed progress updates to the Executive team; · Develop a structured approach to ESG across the business - establish and coordinate a regular ESG working group to meet regularly, ensure alignment on commitments and track progress; · Prepare regular reports to the Executive team and Shareholders regarding ESG and progress against the Sustainability Strategy; · Coordinate and publish an Annual Performance Review for external stakeholders to include an overview of progress in the previous 12 months – this will require cross departmental collaboration; · Explore new thinking and developments in ESG as well as sector innovation, identifying new opportunities for the business to improve and innovate; · Undertake a gap analysis of the current ESG commitments to identify areas where further initiatives could be explored or where collaborative working could enhance success; · Work with the Comms and HR teams to communicate and promote initiatives to the wider business; · Work with Comms team to regularly update ESG communications on the airport website & social media; · Run workshops for employees on ESG-related topics to raise awareness and provide advice; · Ensure that policies related to ESG are reviewed annually, kept up-to-date and reflect any changes in legislation and policy. 2. Leading on delivery of the airport’s Surface Access Strategy, a key sustainability goal for the business. Tasks may include but are not limited to the following: · Develop a comprehensive Surface Access Strategy and Travel Plan for passengers and staff using the airport and deliver the measures set out therein; · Coordinate and manage the delivery of surface access infrastructure and improvements at the airport (for example: electric vehicle charging, bicycle stands, bicycle hire hubs, car parking, taxi parking and improvements to PUDO); · Engage with stakeholders such as the local authority; Department of Infrastructure (DFI) and Translink to: o monitor and track what other developments and initiatives are planned that may impact travel and from airport; o promote the airport’s short, medium and long term infrastructure and service goals to improve sustainable transport options to and from the airport. · Work closely with internal departments (inc. Environment; Comms, HR and Public Affairs) to proactively promote sustainable transport options and benefits to staff and passengers and encourage increased participation; · Develop, monitor and report on performance against the airport’s sustainable travel targets and make recommendations as required – to include annual travel surveys for both passengers and staff; · Produce reports and presentations on surface access performance for external audiences as required including the local planning authority; DFI and the Consultative Committee. 3. Supporting the CDO in delivering the airport’s growth strategy. Tasks may include but are not limited to the following: Assist with the preparation of the airport’s long term master plan with a focus on ESG and sustainability, including surface access; Working with the Environmental, CR and HR teams to co-ordinate and provide input into annual surveys and accreditations including GRESB, NI Environmental Benchmarking survey and CORE; Support the airport’s future growth plans and seek to ensure future operations/growth is consistent with the aspirations of the airport’s master plan, surface access strategy and commitments to net zero; Alongside the airport’s Public Affairs team, support stakeholder engagement through the planning process, including consultation events as may be required. 4. Supporting the Senior Management team in staff engagement and corporate responsibility initiatives across the business, acting as an ambassador for the airport during key events. 5. Any other duty reasonably deemed to fall within the skill of the post-holder and remit of the role. Qualifications/Requirements Minimum of 2 years experience in environment; sustainability; ESG or a related field; Good analytical skills and a proven ability to understand and resolve complex issues through collaboration and engagement; Results focused and ability to work on own initiative; Ability to foster and maintain excellent working relationships with both co-workers and external stakeholders; Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams; Confident and competent individual, capable of representing the airport at stakeholder and other events; An understanding of the political, consultation and community engagement aspects associated with growth plans would be advantageous; Excellent organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and manage workloads, work independently, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail; An ability to remain calm and focused when under pressure and display a pragmatic approach to problem solving complex issues; Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; Comfortable working at pace in a small team environment; Demonstrates a flexible approach to work; Experienced in use of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint; Experience of working within an airport environment is desirable but not essential.
