The Trust is looking for a consultant adolescent psychiatrist for the Meadow Unit - Oxford CAMHS PICU. Meadow Unit was opened in August 2023 and has a robust and consistent Senior Multidisciplinary Team that has been involved with the unit since the conceptualization of its Clinical Model, based on Positive Behavioural Support. The consultant will be the Responsible Clinician (RC) for the 8 adolescent in-patients, all of whom will be under the Mental Health Act (MHA). Meadow Unit is part of the National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (NAPICU) and part of the CAMHS PICU Network.
With the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), the consultant will work to ensure a quick and safe admission and discharge of patients. A prime objective of the team is to ensure quick, efficient hospital treatment of patients requiring intensive psychiatric and nursing input.
There is an emphasis on the use of evidence-based treatments, where available, and following NICE guidelines as applicable. It is recognized that this is an area where research and audit are needed to improve and consolidate practice. The potential candidate will be supported to develop the practice of psychiatry in the PICU setting.
