Location: Ware, Hertfordshire
Reports to: After-School Club Manager
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM, term time only
Salary: £12.50 - £13.50 p/hour
Start Date: 6th January 2025
Job Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and responsible After-School Club Assistant/Supervisor to join our team at a Primary School in Ware. The role involves providing high-quality care and engaging activities for children in a safe and stimulating environment. The successful candidate will work closely with children, staff, and parents to ensure the club runs smoothly and that each child’s needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision and Safety:
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times, following all safeguarding and health and safety guidelines.
Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring they are engaged and safe.
Assist with any incidents or concerns promptly, reporting to the After-School Club Manager as necessary.
2. Activity Planning and Delivery:
Assist in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities and games that engage and stimulate children.
Encourage creativity, teamwork, and positive social interactions through structured play, arts and crafts, sports, and other fun activities.
Adapt activities to meet the needs of children with additional needs or SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
3. Child Care and Support:
Provide individual care and attention to children, ensuring they feel comfortable, happy, and supported.
Help with homework or school projects as needed.
Be a positive role model, demonstrating good behaviour, respect, and kindness.
4. Communication and Collaboration:
Build strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the club.
5. Administrative Support:
Record and monitor attendance, incidents, and any other relevant information as required.
Ensure all safeguarding records and documentation are up to date and accurate.
6. Health and Wellbeing:
Ensure that children are provided with healthy snacks, and assist with mealtimes where applicable.
Support children with any personal care needs, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
1. Essential:
o Experience working with children (ideally within an after-school or childcare setting).
o A genuine passion for working with children and a strong commitment to their welfare and development.
o Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and health & safety practices.
o Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
o Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
o A positive, energetic, and patient attitude.
2. Desirable:
o Relevant childcare qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistant).
o First Aid certification.
o Experience working with children with SEND or additional needs.
o Knowledge of early years and school-age child development.
