Berkshire Community DentalService is looking to recruita Dental Service Manager. Thepersonwill work closely with theChief Dentist and Lead Dental Nurseand be part of the Senior Management Team in the development, management,monitoringand evaluation of the Berkshire Community Dental Service.They will be expected to work with the Thames Valley Community Dental Service (TVCDS) partners and SeniorProgrammeManager as part of the TVCDS collaborative working.
TheServiceManagerwill haverelevant qualifications or significant knowledge and experience in service management,quality improvement,establishedleadership skills and experience in operational management of clinical teams. They musthave excellent communication and liaison skills to engage and collaborate witha number ofcolleagues and stakeholders both internal and external.
Although this ispredominantly amanagement role, the post holder willbe requiredto carry out clinical duties as necessary to meet the needs of the service and to update andmaintainclinical skills.
• To contribute, atan appropriate level, to the formulation and implementation of contractual, strategic, procedural and policy documents
• Meet the Chief Dentist regularly to ensure that she is kept up to date with operational issues and contributing, whereappropriate, to operational and wider strategic planning issues related to the service; intercepting and raising any staffing or other issues of concern within the department.
• Coordinate the installation and commissioning of various projects as they arise. This may involve liaison with suppliers, establishments, facilities and other agencies, theChiefDentistand clinical staff.
• Handle sensitive material and dealing with non-clinical complaints ensuring a satisfactory and acceptable outcome.
• To have sufficient knowledge and experience of dental matters at serviceandarea level to provide advice or support on such matters to other members of the dental team
• To work with the informatics and data teams toproduce reports
• Toassistin the financial and budget management of the serviceand alsothe collection and recording ofappropriate patientcharges
• To attend management team meetings as requested by theChief Dentist
• Supervision and line management of the dental care professionals and dental support staff working within the service
• To ensure compliance with relevant aspects of CQC registration as required by the Trust

• You will be able to work effectively as part of a team.
