We enable new opportunities for our customers through digitalisation. The Extraction Supervisor is responsible for ensuring continuous and efficient extraction operations within the quarry. This role supports the Management and Production teams by optimizing material supply and quality, enhancing overall operational efficiency, and maintaining high standards of safety and environmental management. The Extraction Supervisor will have full accountability for all extraction activities, including contractor management and adherence to best practices in safety and operational performance. The role involves working closely with drilling and blasting contractors to optimize blast performance, ensuring the availability of suitable materials for processing, and maintaining the quarry infrastructure to support efficient operations. The Extraction Supervisor will utilize 5S, Six Sigma, and Lean tools to drive continuous improvement and achieve “best in class” status for the quarry operations. Performance in this role will be measured through achieving agreed safety, environmental, and operational performance levels, while constantly seeking improvements to sustain business efficiencies and meet internal customer satisfaction. Key accountabilities Health and Safety • To ensure the operations under your control comply with the relevant statutory legislation, Safety Policy, and the company Safety, Health and Environment Management System • To assist the Unit Manager in the compliance of procedures and systems under the HeidelbergMaterials Health, Safety and Environment Management System • To lead by example in the observance of safety rules and use of protective equipment and safety devices • To hold the appointment under Section 8 (1) (d) of the Quarries Regulations 1999 • To audit and complete sections as appropriate of the daily inspection (checklist format) • To ensure adequate control of contractors working on in the extraction area, to include inspections of their plant and equipment and their adherence to prepared method statements, safe working practices • To ensure that scheduled & ad-hoc geotechnical inspections are carried out • Complete 5S Audits Customer and Quality Assurance • To ensure that all materials supplied to the primary crusher are of suitable size and quality to optimise process throughput. • To ensure sufficient material availability to process in the primary crusher. • Work closely with the Production supervisors to ensure material is suitable. General Management • Work with our drilling and blasting contractor to optimise blast performance, in terms of fragmentation, blast pile shape and environmental impacts etc. • Blast scheduling & quarry development to ensure sufficient material supply at all times. • Ensure all haul roads are designed and constructed to optimise load and haul performance. • Maintain all items of mobile plant in optimum condition, arrange routine maintenance and servicing. Fuel HR/October 2010 Page 2 of 4 burn and idle time to be monitored This to include specific focus on GET and Tyres to optimise machine performance. • Optimisation of cycle times of all mobile plant, this to include a regular review of load and haul performance, efficiency of loading – cycle time per bucket fill factor etc., dumper capacity.
