Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint 2 Project Officers. The Peat Project Officer is a key part of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s Peat team. Project Officer level posts can be very varied as part of a team of staff and trainees implementing a wide range of activities and projects within Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s Peat Programme across Yorkshire and the North of England, in partnership with other organisations. The activities undertaken as part of this role include surveying damaged peatlands, liaising with landowners and land managers, writing detailed reports, developing tenders, coordinating and overseeing contracts for peatland restoration, managing small budgets and handling claims. We’re seeking candidates with experience of; using GIS software, field survey work and contract management. You should have a good understanding of ecology, environmental processes and land management for nature conservation and be IT literate. Other essential qualities include the ability to work well within a diverse and dynamic team, being capable of working in a busy, evolving environment, including outdoors in all weathers and the ability to communicate with enthusiasm, tact, diplomacy and confidence to a number of different audiences e.g. landowners, graziers, gamekeepers, partner organisations.
