To lead on bids within the West Midlands region on build projects within various sectors from education, healthcare, commercial, local authority. To take responsibility for the projects from inception to starting on site.
Pre-Construction Manager Responsibilities:
Report to the Regional Preconstruction Director to ensure all work winning and preconstruction requirements are met across the wider Midlands region
Liaise with the Regional Managing Estimator to ensure timeframes are achieved for the technical and commercial elements of bids
Take the lead on tenders with the clients representatives establishing win strategy's and key client drivers for selection;
Being one of the Business Unit's points of contact with central head office framework functions for relevant work sectors (in terms of preconstruction) - such as education, health, MOJ etc;
Lead in tender bid settlements together with the appropriate grade of director personnel who can sign off bids
Manage a small preconstruction team based within the regional business unit liaising with the construction delivery teams prior to commencing on site
Liaise with design managers or lead the preconstruction design process depending on the project size and complexity
Liaising with other teams - Business Development Manager; Managing Estimator & Estimating team; Construction delivery teams; Design Managers; Planning Manager; Head office framework functions
Lead bids and take responsibility for - client liaison during bid; technical bid submissions; lead bid settlement meetings with appropriate director. Pre-Construction Manager Requirements:-
Degree Qualifies - BSc Construction related Degree / MICOB Desirable
Safety training - SMSTS (Desirable).
The ability to develop and implement a winning bid strategy in line with the company's business plan
Excellent technical construction experience from either a design management, commercial or operational background
Good commercial acumen to support the implementation of the work winning strategy
Demonstrable bid writing/ submissions skills
Demonstrable planning skills with the ability to work alongside our planner team to produce high quality tender, preconstruction and construction programmes
Ideally able to demonstrate experience with similar peer group contractor from the local area
Personable with excellent communication skills
Team player; Winning mentality
