To provide nutrition and dietetic care for patients and carers at the Lincoln Renal Unit. This is a band 6 post but a B5/6 development package can be agreed for a band 5 interested in working in renal dietetics. The role is fully supported and supervised by a very experienced renal specialist dietitian. This is a part time role of 22.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
1. Undertaking nutrition assessments, providing individualised treatment plans for renal patients.
2. Attending regular MDT's.
3. Providing cross cover of other Lincolnshire renal sites as required.

Job responsibilities
1. Professional Practice: Maintain state registration to practice with the Health Professional Council. Responsible for timely and accurate documentation in line with the British Dietetic Association and ULH standards for record keeping. Collect and record appropriate data on dietetic care. Undertake training learning and development activities as identified in PDP. Regularly update clinical knowledge and practice and follow evidence-based practice. Effectively manage own time and clinical caseload, prioritising clinical need.
2. Follow all departmental and ULHT policies and procedures. Contribute to the development of clinical policies and guidelines within renal services.
3. Clinical: Provide a clinical dietetic service providing advice on management, planning and development of dietetic treatment programmes to service users and health professionals. Assessing patients' nutritional status and requirements and giving dietary advice/recommendations including use of parenteral and enteral feeding as required. This will include taking anthropometrical measurements, interpreting biochemical results and adapting dietary treatment and advice accordingly. Provide a service for the morning, afternoon and twilight sessions.
4. Produce or review diet sheets and nutritional resources, in line with current guidelines and evidence-based practice. This will include specialist documentation (including policy documents) regarding nutritional support and renal dietetics.
5. Participate in staff training and give lectures/talks to professional and clinical groups. This may involve large groups of varying levels of knowledge or education.
6. Participate in the training of student dietitians.
7. Represent ULHT Dietetic Department on appropriate multi-disciplinary groups and committees e.g. MDT, Leicestershire Region Dialysis Satellite Unit meetings.
