What will you be doing? We always aim to have a positive impact on the day-to-day life of the people who draw on our support. Your day as a Support worker will often start with helping them get ready in the morning, including having a shower or bath, using the bathroom and getting dressed. From here, every day is different. You may be supporting them whilst they go shopping, keep fit, go to their weekly clubs and activities, or simply keeping them company whilst they stay in and watch their favourite TV shows. You may also need to support them to take medication and attend medical appointments, but full training will be provided. As you've probably worked out these individuals are full of life and fun to be with, could you support them to lead lives that make sense to them? We are hoping that you can bring new ideas and introduce us to more things that we can do. Who will you be supporting? You will be providing invaluable support to 10 people aged between 25-70 who have either a physical or learning disability, and/or autism. Everyone who draws on our support have their own flat at the service which gives them the freedom to live their own lives. You will be supporting everyone, helping them gain their independence and supporting them to learn new life skills. What about pay? In Birkenhead, MacIntyre Support Workers will earn an hourly rate of £12.00, meaning your annual salary will be £23,463. In addition to your annual salary, you'll have the opportunity to work sleep-ins at an extra £60 per night. This adds an extra £2,880 to your annual salary if you do 1 sleep in a week. Due to the needs of the people we support, holding a manual UK driving licence is desirable as your ability to drive unlocks the opportunities for people to do the things they really enjoy However this is not essential as the service has access to many forms of public transport. We provide support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and so the ability to work bank holidays and weekends is desirable. You will be working on a shift pattern which may include regular early morning starts (7am) and late evening finishes (10pm). Therefore, we need you to be flexible with your availability, but we do always try and be fair when distributing shifts.
