Overview
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner – Complex Care Services/Supported Living (West Midlands and North West)
Salary: £42k with a £3k car allowance. *Ideally Staffordshire based*
Main Responsibilities:
* Undertake referral assessments when required to support operational colleagues.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external professionals to promote the rights of people we support.
* Complete the full process to develop PBS plans, including direct and indirect assessments.
* Review the efficacy of PBSPs using positive monitoring.
* Assist with transition programmes for people moving into their new home.
* Generate Positive Behaviour Support Plans for service users and ensure ongoing review of appropriateness.
* Promote Restraint Reduction Training Standards and reduce the use of restrictive practices.
* Cultivate a shared understanding of behaviour function and develop alternative communication strategies.
* Ensure outcome data regarding distress communication events is collected and reviewed timely.
* Deliver CPD sessions to teams as required.
* Work alongside other business support departments for the benefit of those in receipt of support.
* Promote and input into the development of a reflective organisational culture.
* Support co-production by involving people in their care and support.
* Manage a caseload and plan interventions effectively.
* Practice Leadership by leading by example and supporting staff on shift.
* Be qualified or willing to work towards CPI Safety Intervention Instructor.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience of providing support using the framework of PBS.
* Full driving licence and access to own vehicle.
* Prepared to travel as required for service visits and meetings.
* Person-centred beliefs, values, and attitude.
* Ability to work as part of a team in a leadership capacity.
* In-depth understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and Applied Behaviour Analysis principles.
* Experience in conducting behavioural assessments and developing interventions.
* Direct support experience with individuals with learning disabilities and/or Autism.
* History of reducing the use of restrictive practices.
* Experience delivering Positive Behaviour Support training.
* Excellent record-keeping and written skills.
* Understanding of relevant legal frameworks and policies.
* Integrity and resilience to provide the best services.
* Ability to identify strategies that reduce or prevent restrictive practices.
* Creativity in overcoming barriers.
* Formal qualification in Positive Behaviour Support or related fields.
