Are you an experienced Design Manager seeking a new challenge?
Our client, a dynamic company, is looking for an experienced Design Manager to join their team. In this role, you will manage individual schemes, coordinating all technical information between external consultants and internal departments. The Design Team supports various Operating Companies, including Structural & Civil Engineering, Construction, Building Services, and Facilities Management. What We’re Looking For:
• Qualifications: HNC/HND in Construction & Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience: Previous experience with a main contractor or architecture practice with design coordination or architectural technology expertise.
• Skills:
• Excellent communication and team management abilities.
• Ability to identify and address potential issues proactively.
• Proven capability in managing consultants and warranty providers.
• Proficiency in monitoring and tracking various elements of the design process.
• Familiarity with Viewpoint, PIM, and online drawing portals.
• Experience in producing and managing RFI schedules and processes.
• Value engineering designs provided by project design teams.
• Competence in hosting design team meetings.
• Proactive attitude with flexibility and adaptability.
• Basic knowledge of German and Italian is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the design process, ensuring all approvals are obtained from stakeholders and local authorities, including Section agreements and service applications.
• Provide technical support during feasibility stages and throughout construction phases.
• Ensure timely issuance of design information to relevant departments.
• Coordinate legal aspects related to various agreements, such as Section 28, and arrange bonds, guarantees, warranties, and insurances as required.
• Identify the need for external consultants, agreeing on fees, scope of service, timescales, and deliverables.
• Control the submission of building regulations and warranty applications.
• Produce detailed design programmes identifying key dates and critical paths.
• Support, manage, and develop the internal design team.
• Conduct quality reviews to ensure construction aligns with design specifications.
• Coordinate and obtain planning and building control approvals, discharging conditions as necessary.
