We are currently looking for a Property Maintenance Engineer/Officer to join our clients new facility in Penicuik. They are a higher education institute and the advertised position is within their Poultry Research facility where they conduct research and produce healthy poultry meat. The Property Maintenance Officer role will be focussed on ensuring the Product Evaluation Unit (PEU) is maintained and kept in good repair and operational at all times. The property maintenance officer will be an integral part of a team, led by the PEU Manager. The role will require working closely with contractors to provide a high level of service of maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and compliance. The role will be based at Bush Estate, Penicuik. A driving licence is an essential requirement. Work outside of normal hours might be required to oversee emergency repair work. Working hours are 7.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday. The duties include, but are not limited to: Document maintenance requirements to the building fabric. Inspection of plant and machinery as well as, monitoring our legislative compliance such as health and safety, building risk assessments Ensure the buildings safe and efficient operation and ensure compliance with current health & safety legislation. Responding promptly and appropriately to maintenance issues as and when these arise and resolving these efficiently and cost effectively (this may involve out of hours work). Overseeing maintenance contracts to ensure plant and machinery is regularly maintained and managed to comply with current legislation. Managing maintenance budgets and reporting on expenditure. Essential skills and experience expected of candidates: Desirably, at least 3 years of experience in a similar role within a processing plant. Good working knowledge of current building construction methods, building regulations and Health & Safety Legislation. Experience of instructing and supervising contractors on site. Flexible and adaptable approach, with ability to see task through to successful conclusion. Excellent administrative and organisational skills with the ability to develop comprehensive systems and procedures. A valid driving licence and access to own vehicle.
