An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Full-time Registered Nurse Endoscopist, accredited to perform flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and gastroscopies. The successful candidates require excellent organisational and communication skills and must be a team player. You will be someone who has a passion for making a difference and putting the patient first. You will strive to deliver only the best care to patients and act within the guidelines to ensure faster diagnosis.

Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will provide gastrointestinal endoscopic investigation for the diagnosis, management, and clinical care (including treatments) of patients with gastrointestinal disorders using specialist knowledge and skills.
As a Nurse Endoscopist, the post-holder will:
1. Perform the procedure of Colonoscopy / Flexible Sigmoidoscopy/ Gastroscopy following agreed protocols.
2. Obtain informed consent from patients in line with Trust policy.
3. Administer sedation in a safe and competent manner working within agreed protocols.
4. Provide specialist knowledge; undertake investigation and treatment in the diagnosis, management, and clinical care of patients with Upper and Lower Gastrointestinal disorders.
5. Provide diagnostic and therapeutic autonomous Nurse-led endoscopy service with skills to perform biopsy/polypectomy and where appropriate refer directly to a consultant for immediate intervention.
6. Perform flexible sigmoidoscopy through the National Bowel Cancer Screening Bowel Scope service following national guidelines and standards of practice.
7. Manage referrals through the open access clinic and two-week rule pathway.
8. Work with the Endoscopy team in support of optimal Endoscopy Service provision delivering care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, autonomously undertaking endoscopic procedures, within defined protocols.
9. Timely referral to the cancer MDT where cancer is detected.
10. Provide expert advice, education, supporting patients, relatives, and other healthcare professionals within this specialist field.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Live 1st level NMC Registered Nurse (Adult).
* 1st Degree in relevant associated subject and evidence of postgraduate training in relevant subject.
* Clinical skills accreditation or equivalent.
* Non-medical prescribing qualification.
* Teaching qualification.
* JAG accredited Non-Medical Endoscopist qualification in upper & lower GI endoscopy with quality outcomes in line with JAG guidelines or working towards.
Experience
* Nursing experience at band 7 or above.
* Recent experience of care delivery.
* Knowledge and experience of diabetes care.
* Experience of leadership within a team.
* Evidence of innovation in practice.
* Teaching experience.
* Evidence of current Endoscopist practice hours in line with local and national requirements.
* Experience of managing staff.
Skills & Knowledge
* Evidence of continuous professional development must demonstrate development of knowledge and skills in gastroenterology as part of CPD.
* Basic IT skills.

* Proven communication skills including experience of handling complex relationships and interpersonal dynamics.
