About the role:
Horsham District Council is looking for a Licensing Assistant (Maternity Cover) to join our Licensing team, a small but busy service dealing with the effective and efficient discharge of licensing functions.
As a Licensing Assistant, you will issue licences and permits, carry out routine activities related to the licensing of premises, persons, and specialist functions of the Licensing and Environmental Health service. You will support the Licensing Officers and report to the Principal Licensing Officer. Your work will include being the first point of contact for service and will involve dealing with a variety of enquiries, applications, complaints, and project work. Day-to-day activities will be centred around, but not limited to, the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, pavement licensing, scrap metal, and legislation regulating the licensing of private hire and hackney carriage drivers, vehicles, and operators.
About you:
To succeed as Licensing Assistant, you will be hard-working and dedicated, possess experience in office administration, including the ability to use IT equipment and associated packages. You will have excellent customer service skills and be able to build a good working rapport with internal and external contacts. You will also have a good working knowledge and understanding of the various legislative frameworks we work within (or a strong willingness to learn).
