We are pleased to be recruiting for a Technical Author in a role where you will be responsible for developing and maintaining technology-based learning materials. Our client is a market-leading educational systems provider and is looking to expand their onsite team.
What the role involves:
1. Writing interactive, computer-based learning materials designed to address the needs of students on vehicle maintenance courses in colleges, schools, and universities.
2. Authoring both computer-based and paper-based learning materials covering areas of engineering and vehicle technology.
3. Undertaking research to ensure the accuracy of learning materials.
4. Proof-reading, technical editing, and testing of both computer-based and paper-based learning materials.
5. Keeping up to date with the latest technological advances in electronics, automotive, mechatronics, control, and telecommunications.
6. Using in-house editing software designed to produce on-screen delivered learning materials.
7. Using Windows-based software packages such as Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities of the role:
1. Ensuring that job activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
2. Communicating all necessary information and specifications to designated colleagues clearly and concisely.
3. Ensuring that learning materials comply with design directives.
4. Ensuring that all duties are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
The person carrying out this role must have:
1. A degree or equivalent in a field of engineering. Teaching experience is a definite benefit.
2. The ability to communicate clearly through the written word.
3. Experience in researching technical subjects.
4. An enthusiastic, flexible, self-motivated approach and a willingness to learn new skills.
5. Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate well with people at all levels.
6. An organized manner and the ability to work effectively, either individually or as part of a team.
7. A close attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines, sometimes under pressure, while maintaining set standards.
8. The ability to follow formal procedures and work within a structured Quality Management System.
