Site Engineering Manager
Location: Barnsley
Salary: Up to £60,000 per year depending on experience
Steel Cactus Recruitment are very pleased to be working exclusively with our client; an extremely reputable and established food manufacturer in the Barnsley area. Due to business demand, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Engineering Manager to join their friendly team working at their site.
Working Hours: 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
Overtime may be required from time to time to cover your teams’ holidays and sicknesses, peaks, and flows and the demands of the business.
Responsibilities:
1. Leading the site engineering teams, working to ensure all business and departmental objectives and KPIs are achieved.
2. Budget planning, managing finances and costs related to engineering maintenance, energy, utilities and water, facilities management, projects, labour, contracts, and consumables.
3. Driving through environmental projects.
4. Minimising downtime and leading the engineering team to investigate root cause analysis (RCA) and address recurring faults and engineering issues.
5. Ensuring adherence to key metrics, site compliance, standards, and regulations.
6. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement, best practice, and a centre of excellence, always looking for new and more efficient ways of working.
7. Offering a collaborative approach, able to work closely with colleagues across other departments to achieve business goals.
8. Attending training and developing courses, as appropriate.
9. Managing a team of engineers, including, but not limited to, deputy engineering manager, senior project engineers, site bakery engineers, and apprentices.
10. Organising engineering colleagues’ workloads and call-out rotas.
11. Managing rota, call outs, holiday, health and welfare and the training and development of all engineering personnel.
12. Supervising staff performance and behaviours, time, and attendance.
13. Ensuring operational excellence within your area of responsibility for labour management and performance.
14. Communicating fully with your team, including the daily tasks and requirements.
15. Ensuring your staff have acceptable personal hygiene cleanliness standards and are wearing the correct personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Skills:
1. Experience of working as a Site Engineering Manager or similar.
2. Experience of working within a fast-food manufacturing environment.
3. Experience of managing a diverse workforce. Strong leadership skills, able to coach, mentor and develop teams.
4. Experience of working as an electrical or mechanical engineer, within an industrial setting.
5. A minimum level 3 qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering (NVQ, City and Guilds, HND or equivalent).
6. Apprentice trained.
