A great opportunity to join a £200million heavy Civil Engineering project in North Wales. My client, the principal contractor delivering a major project in Snowdonia, is recruiting for a Design Engineer to join them on a technically complex scheme which will see the removal of existing pylons and the construction of 2 tunnels to carry electricity cabling.
As the project is situated in the Snowdonia National Park, our client offers accommodation/travel subsistence to employees.
As a Design Engineer you will:
1. Manage the Technical Queries (TQ) process. Assigning actions and follow up on responses.
2. Manage and communicate all design queries, comments and information required from Design workshops and meetings and keep records.
3. Raise requests for further information (RFI's) internally and externally from the whole project team.
4. Support the Design Manager to ensure all design deliverables are provided as per the design programmes.
5. Review Designers reports and produce monthly reports on design progress and any other design specific elements.
6. Manage and update the design deliverable schedule.
7. Review all design deliverables and ensure that they are completed to the expected standard. Challenge and resolve when not, including reviewing of all drawing in line with the Clients Scope/requirements.
8. Attend interface meeting with external parties, keeping record of meeting and assign/follow up on actions related to the Design.
9. Arrange internal design interface meetings with construction department.
10. Ensure compliance with design management processes required by the contract.
11. Collaborate with the engagement of external suppliers/subcontractors.
12. Manage provision of drawings to project team - document control.
13. Manage the BIM requirements for permanent and temporary works together with the BIM/CAD Technician.
14. Assist the Lead TWC as design lead for temporary works design packages for the project and ensure the Temporary Works Process is implemented and followed at all times.
Our client requires a Design Engineer with:
1. Wide-ranging understanding and working knowledge of construction methods and outputs who can coach others.
2. Substantial construction and design experience.
3. An understanding of principal designer duties.
4. Experience in implementing and promoting Digital Engineering practices in Design as well as construction.
5. Heavy Civil Engineering project and tunnelling experience (advantageous).
Salary and benefits include:
1. £45,000 to £50,000.
2. £5,000 car allowance or company vehicle.
3. Up to £14,000 accommodation subsistence (taxable) depending on your location.
4. Travel subsistence depending on your location.
5. 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
6. Company pension (matched contribution up to 8%).
