Belcan Workforce Solutions is currently looking for an experienced Project Engineer within C&I on a 12-month Inside IR35 contract near to Chatham, Kent.
The Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Project Engineer will provide vital support to the Engineering Manager to ensure the effective administration of multiple project work scopes. The role brings oversight to the coordination of all stages of the projects to ensure efficient delivery.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the development of scope of work documents including:
1. Engaging site stakeholders to capture key project requirements
2. Reference all available documentation to clearly articulate project requirements in concise language
3. Identifying the required legislation, codes, standards, and specifications to be adhered to throughout the project
4. List key deliverables to be produced during the design stage
5. Ensure effective project management controls are implemented by the design contractor
6. Communicate the project schedule that should be followed
7. Partake and lead in tender events with key nominated suppliers (via dedicated frameworks)
1. Implement good project management controls for all assigned projects including:
1. Identifying and capturing project risks on necessary project registers
2. Capturing lessons learned and encouraging continuous improvement
3. Monitoring financial forecasts to ensure spend profiles are met
4. Tracking schedule performance to drive project delivery on time
5. Actively review the quality of all design documentation produced by awarded contractors and ensure timely review by site reviewers
6. Facilitate and arrange stakeholder workshops/ engagement
7. Ensure the scope of work is fully met and all solutions are code-compliant
8. Understand and adhere to all necessary contractual requirements
9. Author Investment Scheme Papers (ISP) and develop sound business cases for all proposed projects
10. Regularly present project progress to senior members
11. Provide specialist discipline review on engineering deliverables when required
12. Act as focal point for technical issues and coordination between onsite staff, contractors, and subcontractors for area of responsibility
13. Take responsibility for the required Management of Change (MOC) requirements
14. Develop project summary documentation and facilitate stakeholder reviews and sign off
15. Coordinate purchase order requisitions
16. Actively manage the work hour budget for their area of responsibility
17. Actively support constructability program and communicate constructability issues to discipline engineers
18. Assist with project close-out
Notable projects to be managed:
* Control System Replacement
* Replacement of obsolete actuators on legacy assets
* Replacement of Fiber Optic Gas Detection System(s)
* Review and initial investigation of snuffing system renewal / replacement
* Hazardous Area Compliance (BS EN 60079) associated with a COMAH plant.
* Supporting Process, Mechanical & Electrical Project Engineers with C&I input.
Experience:
Ideally, you will have experience in Fire & Gas replacement projects with a strong Control & Instrumentation project delivery background. Extensive experience working in industry: Oil & Gas (onshore/offshore), Petrochemical, Utilities, Top tier COMAH sites.
