We are looking for a dedicated Mental Health Nurse to join our STAR Team. You will work alongside a Band 6 clinician to triage and assess young people in crisis presenting to the emergency department. You'll contribute to assessments, care planning, and evaluations, providing effective interventions for both young people and their families.
About Us: The Supportive Treatment and Recovery (STAR) Team at Sheffield Children's Hospital provides assessment and brief therapeutic interventions to young people in crisis. We collaborate with CAMHS, social care, and local partners to ensure the best outcomes for the young people we support.
About You: You are a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Registered Nurse in Learning Disabilities (RNLD) with a passion for supporting young people in crisis. You're committed to standards of care, professional development, and excel in challenging environments, making a positive impact on the recovery of vulnerable individuals.

Main duties of the job
Reporting to the CAMHS Service Manager, your responsibilities will include:
1. Conduct assessments, plan, and evaluate nursing care for young people in crisis.
2. Help triage and assess individuals presenting to the emergency department.
3. Ensure the needs of children, young people, and their families are met with effective interventions.
4. Maintain accurate records related to assessments and care provided.
5. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-standard brief crisis interventions.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* RMN / RN (Mental Health) or RLDN / RN (Learning Disabilities) registration or awaiting registration
* Degree in relevant subject
Experience
* Mental Health Experience in Acute or CAMHS setting Multi-disciplinary working.
* CAMHS experience / placement Previous experience of working with children and young people or Adult mental health experience.
Knowledge and Skills
* Legal Frameworks relevant to MH care (MHA, Safeguarding, Children's Act)
* Nursing process
* Clinical governance
* Current CAMHS practice / issues
