Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow post in the Department of Dermatology, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The appointee will join a friendly and active department with an excellent reputation for teaching and training.
The Department of Dermatology is a dynamic, forward-thinking department, delivering a range of dermatological services including paediatric dermatology, skin cancer services, genital dermatoses, and complex psoriasis. The service is outpatient-focused, with facilities for day case and surgical procedures.
The department offers a broad range of dermatological experience, including a wide assortment of inflammatory, sarcoidosis, and haematodermatology conditions.
Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and will be required to meet the essential criteria as described in the person specification. Potential candidates should have at least six months’ dermatology experience in the NHS within the United Kingdom.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a team of 4 junior doctors within the dermatology department providing a comprehensive dermatology service with both in and out-patient experience under the supervision of the dermatology consultants. The department encourages direct emergency referrals from GPs and provides a walk-in service during clinic hours. An out-of-hours advice service for such cases is provided by the SpRs and clinical fellow, who are on-call (non-resident) on a 1 in 4 rota supported by the Consultants.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Post Holder will be responsible for the:
1. Participation in outpatient clinics as appropriate
2. Maintenance of accurate, comprehensive, contemporaneous medical notes
3. Participation in Multi-disciplinary Meetings as appropriate
4. Management of dermatological admissions (routine & emergency) with the help of the ST2 doctor (SHO).
5. There may be an opportunity to be involved with research and audit projects within the department.
6. You have a general duty of care for the health, safety, and well-being of yourself, work colleagues, visitors, and patients within the hospital in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post.
7. You are required to observe the rules, policies, procedures, and standards of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations.
8. You are required to observe and maintain strict confidentiality of personal information relating to patients and staff.
9. You are required to be responsible, with management support, for your own personal development and to actively contribute to the development of colleagues.
10. The post holder has an important responsibility for and contribution to make to infection control and must be familiar with the infection control and hygiene requirements of this role. These requirements are set out in the National Code of Practice on Infection Control and in local policies and procedures which will be made clear during your induction and subsequent refresher training. These standards must be strictly complied with at all times.
