Job Purpose
The Workshop Intern will assist internal stakeholders within the Surface Altens service base. This role is designed to provide the intern with comprehensive knowledge and experience by rotating through various business functions, thereby gaining a wider skillset. You will have the opportunity to gain diverse experience and receive mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals.
Job Description
Workshop
* Clean tools in wash bay using pressure washer prior to tool arriving in workshop.
* Strip tools using assembly drawings and BOM’s, bagging and tagging component parts and recording any P/N, S/N’s using the parts verification list in the work pack.
* Visually inspect assembled tool prior to disassembly noting any indications or damage. Create a photo survey if any damage noted.
* Complete any additional refurb noted by QC during their full inspection.
* Re-assemble tools using assembly drawings, BOM’s and parts verification list (with secondary sign off).
* Further clean component parts using parts washer or de-souter. Be careful around critical sealing areas and only use scotch brite on sealing areas unless advised otherwise by supervisors or engineering.
* Tap all threaded holes/ports to clean prior to passing for QC inspect.
* Note any SRP parts (elastomers, small fasteners or pipe plugs for example) for QC to add to the picklist.
Engineering
* Navigate through the required sections of the TCE System and Engineering Toolbar. Can locate part reports / drawings / documents.
* Understands the various refurb / rework documents. Assist Engineering in disposition of Engineering Reviews / QN’s.
Quality
* Work alongside the Warehouse & QC teams to understand the process when in receipt of either customer or TFMC equipment and how it is processed.
* Working with QC Inspection team in carrying out full equipment assessment post strip down to ascertain the level of repair required to bring the equipment back into operational use.
* Understanding of the QMS systems which are the drivers to ensure compliance and governance when carrying out repairs & overalls pertaining to all Surface equipment.
