This is an opportunity to join Bristol City Council’s Counter Fraud and Investigation Team, based in Internal Audit. The team leads the fight against fraud by: Key Responsibilities Investigating cases of suspected fraud Carrying out proactive exercises to detect fraud Ensuring appropriate action is taken where fraud is found Working with services to prevent fraud The Intelligence Officer role is key in supporting this work. Under the direction of either the Audit Manager - Counter Fraud & Investigations or Senior Investigator, you would be contributing to the delivery of real financial savings as well as stopping fraud in its tracks. Requirements Record and maintain up to date case records Interrogate Council systems Gather intelligence from other internal and external sources of information Analyse and review output from proactive fraud exercises Support investigation work as required Respond to requests for information from other enforcement and investigation agencies including the police, Department of Work and Pensions, and other Local Authorities Qualifications Good IT skills, across standard Microsoft platforms (Excel and Word) A good aptitude for learning different systems Ability to analyse and present data Some understanding of investigation work and ideally knowledge of Local Authority fraud Please note that the post is subject to a Basic - Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
