Advanced Paediatric Audiologist / Clinical Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 7 Advanced Paediatric Audiologist / Clinical Scientist (Audiology) to join our Paediatric Audiology department. This is an advanced role requiring expertise in complex paediatric audiology services. The successful candidate will be expected to work across our two main sites, Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton, as well as other outstations as and when required. Our department is an accredited STP training site and currently hosts STP trainees.
This advanced role requires a dedicated professional with a strong background in paediatric audiology. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and a commitment to continuous professional development. Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will lead in the complex assessment and rehabilitation of children and young people, ensuring accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plans. They will conduct ABR assessments as a primary duty, ensuring precise evaluation and interpretation of results to guide patient care. As the service is working towards IQIPS accreditation, the post holder will take on a quality lead role, collaborating with other quality leads within the department to maintain and enhance service standards.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Senior Audiology Team, contributing to strategic planning and service development. They will act as deputy for the Head of Department alongside the other advanced audiologists, providing leadership and support as needed. The post holder will provide supervision and training to staff and students, including STP trainees, ensuring they receive the support and guidance needed to develop their skills and knowledge.

Person Specification
Education, Training and Qualifications
* MSc in Audiology/Healthcare Science or equivalent level and significant relevant experience including HTS modules
* Registered as a Clinical Scientist in Audiology with HCPC OR Registered as a Clinical Physiologist with AHCS
* Membership of BAA and/or BSA
Experience & Knowledge
* Demonstrable experience in paediatric audiology and evidence of clinical competency with a complex patient caseload
* Evidence of recent validation of clinical skills e.g. BAA HTS, Scientist Equivalency, ABR peer review, or STP degree
* Participation in research and development activities, including service reviews and audit of clinical outcomes as required
* Post graduate management/leadership training or experience as a team leader/supervisor
Skills and Ability
* Substantial paediatric audiology experience to include pre-school assessment and hearing aid fitting, verification and validation.
* Clinical ABR experience including participation in external peer review
Other
* Car driver with a clean licence
