Job description Working in a team with our Head of Equity, Joint Ventures and Partnerships and the Equity and Partnerships Portfolio Management team, the Investment Manager will play a critical role in managing a portfolio of equity and joint venture investments all ranging in size, nature and counterparty, but all with a focus on housing delivery and placemaking (and in many instances both). You will be joining our small but talented and experienced team, who are committed to making positive change in how we manage our high profile and complex equity investments and lending alliances and accelerate housing delivery. We work collaboratively to foster good decision making and problem solving in the team. The role will require the robust management of high profile Equity transactions to enable the delivery of more homes using innovative funding structures with a diverse set of Investment Partners whilst unlocking further investment into the sector. The role will also require detailed commercial analytics and financial modelling will be a key part of the role whether on the transaction side or the portfolio management. A good understanding of risk management is required to enable to achievement of investment objectives, housing targets and milestones and to enable recovery of our investment through a successful exit strategy. Understanding of the Shareholder / Partnership agreements will be critical to the role. The role also requires the provision of effective stewardship and management of key relationships with Investment Partners all the way to C-Suite. You will also, from time to time, have a role in transacting new investment proposals which include contributing to the investment appraisal and the business case approval processes. This could include due diligence of underlying real estate, negotiating commercial terms with counterparties, reviewing and analysing investment appraisals and cashflows, contributing to early stage papers setting out the investment proposal and support the drafting of business cases for approval by senior stakeholders. The role will give you exposure to some of the most senior people at Homes England as well as Government departments through the periodic committees and forums in which the portfolio reporting is presented. Working with key stakeholders and a professional real estate portfolio management team you will ensure excellent management of complex deals supported with efficient, consistent and effective resolution of any issues that need to be addressed and have the opportunity to help create a more balanced, diversified and robust residential sector. Person specification Key skills and knowledge Degree level qualification, and a professional qualification or equivalent experience of industry professional e.g., Corporate Finance, Banker, Accountant or similar. Excellent Excel skills are essential, and a proficient understanding of cashflow analysis and financial modelling would be ideal. Experience in a corporate finance environment, transaction services or a Project Finance role would be preferred. Good experience and understanding of risk and client management of a portfolio of equity and debt investments in the real estate sector, including understanding of deal execution documents (such as Shareholder Agreements, Side Letters), and working with underperforming transactions. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are essential due to the level of reporting to senior management. Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload and meet tight deadlines.
