We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Events and Programme Officer to join our Events Team.
You will take the lead in delivering a high-profile, inclusive and exciting programme of events across the Borough. From delivering key civic events to supporting external event organisers and community celebrations, you will play a pivotal role in raising the profile of Sandwell as a great place to live, work, visit, and a venue of choice for events.
Key responsibilities include:
* Lead and manage the development, coordination, and delivery of a borough-wide events programme aligned with the Council’s strategic priorities.
* Champion Sandwell through well-executed, inclusive, and high-quality events that reflect the borough's rich diversity.
* Collaborate with elected members to deliver key civic events such as Remembrance Day parades and Armed Forces Day.
* Manage the event governance process and lead on health and safety, risk assessments, and compliance with all relevant legislation and Council policies.
* Day-to-day management of event budgets, ensuring value for money and exploring funding and sponsorship opportunities.
* Work closely with community groups, partners, and external organisations to co-create a varied and sustainable events offer.
* Provide advice and guidance to external event organisers, particularly those holding events on council land.
Essential requirements for the role include:
* A minimum of two years proven experience in the planning and delivery of indoor and outdoor community events.
* Experience of delivering commissionable community-based services/programmes.
* Experience of successfully managing a diverse range of creative projects.
* Experience of budget management, statistical analysis, and financial planning.
* Experience of project/programme management – including risk management associated with major events/activities and a strong understanding of Health and Safety Legislation.
We are looking for someone with proven experience in planning and delivering public events at scale. You will be confident working with a wide range of partners, passionate about engaging diverse communities, and highly organised with an eye for detail.
Hours:
37 hours per week – worked on a flexible basis to suit the needs of the events being organised, including regular evening, weekend, and Bank Holiday working as required.
