We are recruiting for a Gastroenterology Consultant postat Frimley Health. The Department comprises 16 Consultants and we are planning to expand substantive numbers within the next 6-12 months
Candidates with ERCP and other therapeutic endoscopic experience are encouraged to apply. We are also likely to be expanding our hepatology and IBD teams.
ThewardandGastrobleedingout of hourscoverwillbeprovidedatWexhamPark.This will be on a 1:7 basis with a view to change as more colleagues are recruited. The gastroenterology ward (3) is a 24 bedded unit with 6 side rooms and contains liver patients, IBD patents, nutrition patients and general medical patients.
When off the wards the post holder will provide two-three clinics per week and two-three endoscopysessions,attendMDTs,meetingsetc.Theendoscopysessionsareexpectedto be provided cross site at Frimley, Wexham and Heatherwood
WeeklyMDTsincludeColo-rectal,UpperGIandHPBformalignancyaswellas IBD,general gastroenterology. In addition, there is a weekly medical Grand Round and a journal club.
Gastroenterology consultants are not part of the GIM on call rota. We will provide weekend Gastro zone review combined with GI bleeding provision on a 1:7 basis. The GI bleedingrotaissupportedbytwofullytrainedendoscopynurseswhoattendforoutofhoursemergencies.
Frimley Health is proud of its high quality endoscopy services which are provided in a 5 roomeddedicatedsuiteatFrimley,abrandnew2roomedunitat Heatherwood,where we offerpH, manometry and breath testing. We have 2 procedure rooms in Lady Sobell suite( in-patient and ERCP)andan additional 2 in thenewmodularunit atWexham. Servicesprovidedincludescapsuleendoscopy, single balloon enteroscopy, HALO and EMR therapy to Barrett’s and early oesophageal cancers.
We are very well supported by our anaesthetic colleagues and have access to several weekly propofollists,tosupportthecomplex hepatobiliary and luminal work (e.g. Spyglass).
