Main duties of the job Applications are invited for a Post-CCT Senior Fellow Oesophagogastric Surgeon (12 months). The post is for candidates who wish to consolidate training leading to them being able to manage the full spectrum of elective and emergency, benign and malignant upper GI (oesophagogastric) cases. They will contribute to a 1:4 subspecialist (OG) consultant on call rota in a busy teaching hospital and major trauma centre. Candidates should hold CCT. The successful candidate will join a team of 4 consultant surgeons delivering tertiary malignant and benign upper GI regional surgical services for the people of Southampton and Wessex region. While the subspecialist on-call service will be based at UHS the successful candidate may be expected to provide services at Lymington New Forest Hospital and other regional hospitals as required in future. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists).Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave.
