Job summary We require a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work as a Apheresis Nurse in the clinical apheresis unit (CAU) embedded on the Haematology and transplant day unit. This role will enhance IV skills and knowledge in apheresis and the transplant process. This role offers a vast amount of learning opportunities and working a long side a well-established multi-disciplinary team. This job requires additional intensive training to become competent in apheresis procedures under the supervision of our external training agencies, Terumo and under the guidance and supervision of the Apheresis Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating service delivery both clinically and office based to facilitate and manage the apheresis journey for all of our patients and donors. Working closely with the apheresis director, transplant coordinators and Donor coordinators. Experience in Haematology or Oncology is essential, Teenage and Young adult (TYA) nursing desirable, transplant experience desirable but expectation to complete training. Training and support will be given. Main duties of the job You should possess good communication and organizational skills, previous basic IT experience and experience with Haematology/oncology patients. It is essential that you are able to work in an orderly and systematic manner, possess good literacy, numeracy, communication and organizational skills. You should have a caring attitude, as well as the ability to work effectively under direction as part of a multidisciplinary team. Main Duties consist of preparing all relevant paperwork for patients and Donors to facilitate the stem cell collection procedure. Obtaining written consent and HTA consent. Practice under the JACIE guidelines. Manage good IV access and work at pace to maximise procedure efficiency. Manage an unwell patient and troubleshoot procedures where necessary. Assess the service needs and assist the apheresis lead to develop the service. Scheduling of apheresis patient and work collaboratively with the donor and transplant services within the haematology clinics.
