An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our friendly and supportive team working in the Moray area of Grampian. The post involves supporting Speech and Language Therapists and other Speech and Language Therapy Support Workers to meet the needs of adults as well as children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) in a variety of locations across Moray. This will involve working directly with adults and children and their families (both individually and in groups), providing coaching and support to families and other professionals as well as co-delivering training. You will be responsible for managing a patient caseload delegated to you by the qualified Speech and Language Therapists and be expected to work independently, assessing the patient’s care needs and/or modifying existing treatment plans without direct supervision. Our team is community based with a mixed and diverse caseload. Our team has a strong commitment to working in partnership with clients, their families, other professionals and the wider community with a strong focus on developing capacity for self-management. We are a small team based in a modern building in a central location which enables regular informal as well as formal support. You will be allocated a mentor as well as a clinical supervisor who will support you in managing your delegated caseload with additional ring fenced time for planning, administration and personal development. Within the Department of Speech and Language Therapy, we are committed to staff development through joint working opportunities, access to specialist advice, formalised supervision and training. Relevant experience working with adults and children and young people with communication difficulties is an essential criterion for this post. Work experience in an educational or health care setting would be desirable and experience working at Band 3 as a Health Care Support Worker in a related field would be advantageous. PVG registration will be required and car drivers are essential.
