One of my local government clients is currently recruiting an experienced Media Manager on a temporary basis. This is a 3-month minimum contract with the possibility of the role being extended further to work Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
This is a hybrid working role; however, you will be required to attend the office 2-3 times a week.
Overview:
Effective communication with our residents, partners, staff, and stakeholders is critical to the council delivering its ambitious programme of change and improvement. The role of Media Lead will be central to ensuring the council is promoting its values, ambitions, and achievements across a range of channels. Key aspects of this role will be communicating and engaging with residents to affect behaviour change, managing the reputation of the council through media relations, and ensuring a consistent identity across corporate and service communication campaigns.
Responsibilities:
1. To support the implementation of the Strategy Directorate's business plan and Communications Strategy to ensure residents are informed and engaged with the work of the council.
2. To raise the profile of the council by positively presenting its priorities and key messages in the media and publications.
3. To use social and digital media platforms strategically to better engage with local communities and hard-to-reach audiences.
4. To develop and lead on the council's Media Relations Strategy.
5. To support the implementation of the council's Internal Communications Strategy.
6. To provide strategic advice to senior officers/managers and elected members on media relations.
7. To lead on the strategic positioning of the council with and in the media in support of key council messages and agreed campaigns and priorities.
8. To proactively support the development, implementation, and evaluation of communications strategies.
