Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (Special Interest In Endocrine): Band 7

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic Registered Nurse with a special interest in endocrine therapies to apply for a Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist role, at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should have experience and understanding in caring for and in meeting the needs of patients with breast cancer, demonstrable organisational skills and be able to work effectively autonomously and as part of a team.
A flexible approach is needed to manage the changing picture of cancer care, with a willingness to respond to the changing needs of the Trust and its patients and their families.
Main duties of the job
You will be a key worker, instrumental in influencing and advocating for the patient and those important to them. You will provide essential cross department liaison and develop advanced communication skills to improve the patient’s journey and experience from screening through to palliation. Providing expert clinical knowledge and strong role modelling is an essential component of the role.
You will be working autonomously running nurse led endocrine clinics as well as supporting patients through all aspects of their care. Advanced physical assessment skills and a track record of nurse led clinic skills are desirable; however, we will be committed to addressing your training needs and professional development and offer support and leadership.
As part of the specialist nursing team you will develop the service and implement national cancer guidance.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Level 1 registered with NMC
* Breast Specialty qualification at Masters Level or equivalent knowledge and experience (or working towards Masters)
* Teaching & Assessing qualification or equivalent experience
* Advanced Communication skills
* Demonstrate evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
* Working towards Master’s qualification
Experience
* Some experience in developing specialised programs of care relevant to the specialty service. Significant experience working at Band 6 working at a senior level.
* Experience in developing and training staff.
* Implementation of change to improve services/patient experience.
* Evidence of involvement in Clinical Governance
* Health and Safety in relation to the specialty
* Ability to lead clinical audit
* Evidence of sound management and leadership experience
* Independent nurse led clinics
* Knowledge of endocrine treatments and their side effects
* Has a varied clinical background
* Evidence of involvement in service users’ advocacy and complaints resolution.
