We are looking for applications from people who share our values to help make us a valued and trusted partner within our care system, that delivers safe effective care to our local population.
Job overview
It’s an exciting time at Scarborough Hospital as our brand new state-of-the-art Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC) opens in 2025. The new UECC will provide rapid assessment and treatment for 70,000 annual attendees for locals and tourists alike. It will combine the current emergency department (ED), same day emergency care and the acute medical unit so patients can be cared for in one integrated clinical environment. It also includes a dedicated pharmacy team space with consulting room. And you could be part of this groundbreaking transformation!
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated clinical pharmacist to be a key member of our pharmacy service and develop new ways of working involving all members of the pharmacy team. You will use your clinical skills to ensure patients receive the correct medications as close to admission as possible and ensure we Get It Right First Time.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with the specialist nurses and clinicians within the UECC and will provide expert advice on prescribing and patient pathways. You will work alongside Care Group leads to investigate incidents and promote medication safety.
You will help to implement systems to improve flow and capacity and the safe transfer of care for patients. You will train and develop the role of pharmacy technicians and other pharmacists within the emergency department.
You must possess excellent communication skills and have strong clinical skills. We welcome interest from pharmacists from all backgrounds, but you must hold a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy to Diploma level (or appropriate experience).
If you are not already a prescriber, we will provide you with the opportunity and support to train as a non-medical prescriber. There will also be opportunities to develop your leadership and teaching skills including being a Diploma tutor.
Working for our organisation
We offer a range of benefits to support our staff including:
* Access to the NHS Pension Scheme
* 27 days holiday rising to 33 days (depending on NHS Trust service)
* A generous relocation package of up to 30% of salary (capped at £18k) for hard to fill positions
* A variety of different types of paid and unpaid leave
* Confidential advice and support on personal, work, family and relationship issues, 24/7
