The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the company's credit control function, ensuring timely collections, maintaining healthy cash flow, and minimizing bad debts. The Credit Controller will work closely with the accounts team and clients to manage outstanding balances and resolve payment issues. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely payments are made. Contact customers by phone, email, or letter to remind them of outstanding invoices and chase overdue payments. Resolve customer queries and disputes efficiently to avoid delays in payments. Maintain accurate records of all communications with customers. Prepare and send customer statements, dunning letters, and reminders for overdue accounts. Reconcile customer accounts and ensure accurate reporting of aged debts. Collaborate with the sales and accounts departments to assess and set appropriate credit limits for customers. Process credit applications and ensure they meet company policies. Produce regular reports on aged debt, cash flow forecasts, and credit risk. Support the month-end and year-end financial closing procedures. Assist in the preparation of bad debt provisions and write-offs. Participate in improving credit control procedures and systems. Qualifications and Skills: Proven experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role. Strong understanding of credit control processes and techniques. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal effectively with customers and internal teams. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve disputes professionally. Proficient in using accounting software and MS Excel Detail-oriented, highly organised, and capable of working independently. Ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritise workload effectively. Good understanding of financial reporting and accounts reconciliation. Desirable: Experience in managing high volumes of customer accounts. Credit control certification or relevant accounting qualification Knowledge of relevant legal procedures regarding debt recovery.
