Job summary We are looking for a Transport Care Assistant to join our team at Oldham Royal Hospital to provide a quality service to all patients, visitors, and staff throughout the Trust, by carrying out their wide range of duties, including moving and handling, driving and security, in a professional manner observing all Health and Safety and departmental codes of practice and procedures. You will Ensure a timely transportation to and from appointments at hospitals, inpatient areas, Emergency Departments or other places of care and assess and make a transport plan for patients with medical support requirements to ensure a safe transport plan is made. Main duties of the job Physical Skills The role will involve walking in excess of 10 miles per day, driving Trust Vehicles, moving heavy loads and on occasion, working outside in poor weather conditions. Moving and handling of patients will be required to support each patient according to their individual needs. Responsibility for Patient Care Every patient must be treated with dignity and respect and transported around the hospital safely and with courtesy. Assessments will be made to support the development of a safe transport plan for a patient with medical needs, ensuring the plan is robust and the transport provision are trained and able to meet the patients medical and support needs. Patient confidentiality must be observed at all times. Responsibility for Policy/Service Development The post holder will follow policies relating to their role and level of responsibility.
