Are you ready to join our talented Energy team to work on our most strategic and complex major pursuits? To support our growth aspirations in nuclear decommissioning and waste, we are looking to appoint a Strategic Bid Director to lead our largest Enterprise Critical Pursuits (ECPs) in the Nuclear Sector.
The role will report into the Director of Energy, EWE Europe.
About the role:
The Strategic Bid Director - Nuclear will work closely with the client account team, bid managers, technical experts and senior business leaders to identify a 'bid to win' strategy for our ECPs.
Along with responsibility for the creation of the bid strategy, the Strategic Bid Director will lead and own the strategic thinking throughout all stages of the bid from initial go-no-go, development of a capture plan, concept of delivery, technical answer planning, commercial approach, through the bid submission to interview/presentation preparation /behavioural assessments and debrief.
The Strategic Bid Director role is "front-of-house" and involves direct interaction with clients, for example Nuclear Waste Services, as well as creating impact with internal colleagues and stakeholders to drive positive change in the way in which they approach their major pursuits strategy and delivery.
Dependant on the individual appointed the Strategic Bid Director may transition into a Programme Delivery role on successful award of a contract to AECOM or, alternatively, transition to lead a new pursuit.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the delivery of bids in conjunction with the Energy team and leads
* Lead and support on the creation and execution of strategies to complement the client's desired outcomes
* Work closely with the sector to gather and scope client intelligence to align AECOM for successful bid outcomes
* Identify technical, work winning and marketing resources and skills required to ensure they are available when needed for the opportunity, bid and delivery
* Engage with the marketing teams to position AECOM with key decision makers for the opportunity
* Work with the team to prepare for Gate reviews, Go/Get, Exec Boards and Risk Committees
* Lead a holistic approach to bidding from win strategy creation, to running the commercial/pricing and technical/quality workstreams, through to bid debrief
* Facilitate various workshops on:
o Strategy workshops with bid teams to make sure the overarching delivery method is in place, prior to bid document release
o Provide a clear brief of the task ahead to the bid writers and contributors
o Lessons learned and challenge team reviews for the pricing/commercial element of the bid
o Bid debrief sessions to understand what went well and what needs improvement to gather lessons learned and drive continuous improvement
* Manage, track and report on the bid budget
* Oversee the communication of the daily progress updates and identify and mitigate risks to delivering a winning bid
* Ensure awareness through relevant partnerships with key stakeholders of the latest developments and thinking across AECOM
* Lead on project and programme delivery within the Nuclear Waste Industry
* Lead, build and develop teams within project management
* Work closely with the client to deliver agreed outcomes
* Develop relevant key partnerships in the Nuclear and Energy Sector through attending relevant meetings, events and conferences
Qualifications
This is a leadership position that requires clear thinking, strong strategic skills, the ability to create empathy and rapport with internal colleagues and external clients, and a cooperative ability to constructively engage and lead the business in winning work.
* Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in working on major pursuits, across the Energy & Nuclear Markets
* Background in decommissioning, waste treatment and solutions
* Strong commercial awareness on waste policy, legislation and regulation
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills - able to navigate across a matrix organisation and across government organisations
* This position requires experience of managing both the commercial/pricing and quality/technical works streams on major bids.
* This leadership position requires experience in delivering major bids of circa $100m.
* Other key competencies include experience in a consultancy business across Energy Transition, Nuclear and Waste
