We are currently seeking an interim Packaging Lab Technician, to work with our global FMCG client, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment. The position is based at our client's scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 9 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £33,021 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience. The main job purpose is to coordinate operational aspects of the packaging laboratory for the virgin plastic reduction (VPR) packaging team, focussing on sampling, packaging testing and reporting whilst ensuring safety within the lab facilities is a key priority. Main Accountabilities Responsible for ensuring operational use of several activities in packaging labs Provide support to deliver testing program, including identifying opportunities to streamline processes Provide clear, accurate measurement & testing reports, with conclusions and recommendations, working with VPR team to drive consistent data output via digital tools, in line with functional excellence guidelines Provide problem solving technique & options to assess findings of packaging testing Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to, and training requirements are kept up to date Ensure the laboratory housekeeping standards are upheld Ensure sample request and tracking are updated Knowledge and Relevant experience: Minimum A level, with science / engineering background. Formal packaging qualifications preferred. Laboratory experience, ideally in a packaging context Experience / appreciation in Packaging and/or Engineering/Manufacturing preferred. Experience in laboratory Measurement and testing equipment Fluent PC skills including Excel (using formulas and generating graphs), Powerpoint & Word. Experience of using a variety of software, good computer literacy Safety train - as a minimum RA, Manual Handling, CoSHH assessment and ISOSH Working Safely Good understanding of Good Laboratory Practice Personal Attributes Able to organise workloads and find efficiencies Proactive, can think and work independently Good communication and ability to interact with wider teams Excellent attention to detail, can identify errors and inconsistencies in lab results. 'Can do' attitude, perseverance and a diligent approach when dealing with difficult tasks.
