Start date: 31st March 2025, or later to accommodate the candidate's potential notice period.
Westdene Primary School & Nursery is a popular primary school situated to the north of the city.
The school is seeking to appoint a well-organised, efficient Caretaker to join our school to provide assistance around the school - this is a Facilities Support Level C role and includes some Site Management duties. We would consider full time applicants willing to work a split shift as well as those who would consider a job share arrangement (either working the AM shift or PM shift).
About the role
The ideal candidates will be flexible, proactive and trustworthy, as well as having good organisational skills to support the management team in ensuring Health & Safety duties and documentation are observed and up to date (training will be provided). We are a large site and so physical fitness is necessary. Duties will include being the first point of contact for matters regarding the site (our buildings and grounds), security and maintenance, supporting parents/carers on and off the site and general cleaning duties as required. It is preferable that the successful applicant will have a good range of skills and experience including a basic level of building maintenance and DIY skills, ideally gained in a similar environment.
As a key-holder, responsibilities will also include:
* Early morning: unlocking the site at 6.45am
* Evening closing checks: secure the building and complete end-of-day procedures
We are open to:
* Split Shifts: candidates able to work morning and evening schedules
* Job Share: two individuals sharing responsibilities
There is also opportunity for additional hours during school events and lettings.
We are very proud of our school and our school community and we would welcome applicants who would approach their work with equal pride, care and reliability. We would encourage applicants to visit our school for a short tour.
Westdene Primary School & Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
