We are excited to announce a wonderful opportunity to join the Infectious Diseases (I.D) Research Team within the Division of Medicine and Integrated Care. We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse to support our inpatient I.D clinical research studies on a one-year fixed-term contract.
This role involves onsite working only. You will be based primarily at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, with travel to Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals, as needed, to assist with both commercial and non-commercial research studies.
The role is patient facing, working in I.D wards, ICU, A& E and other clinical areas as needed. It involves coordinating I.D research studies from initiation to completion, including study set-up, recruitment, conducting the study activities, supporting study monitoring and close out activities. During recruitment you will be required to take consent and samples from patients diagnosed with known pathogens such as Monkeypox, SARS, COVID and Influenza as well as any newly identified pathogens that may emerge.
You will need to collaborate with the Principal Investigators (PIs), the wider Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) as well as the Study Team in order to efficiently manage a caseload of studies. Excellent communication skills and a high degree of autonomy are required.
Prior knowledge and clinical experience of research delivery in a healthcare setting and clinical experience or knowledge about I.D would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job
* As a Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in research.
* This will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
* You will work collaboratively with the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of research patients.
* You will act as a knowledgeable resource for staff, researchers, research participants and patients, alongside a working knowledge and compliance with local, national and international research regulations.
* You will contribute to the development of local policies related to all aspects of the research process and contribute to the training and supervision of staff and researchers.
