MGV/LGV Professional Driver with Driver Coaching responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team of experienced Advanced Drivers Coaches which will cover the locations Medway, Canterbury and Tunbridge.
This is a professional driving role for Royal Mail, the successful candidate will be required to drive for Royal Mail but will have added responsibility as an Advanced Driver Coach. The base pay will be £546.41 per week pro rata with an Advanced Driver Coach allowance of £267.83 per month.

The purpose of an Advanced Driver Coach is to support our professional drivers, to improve their skills, knowledge and understanding allowing them to perform their duties in a safe and responsible manner whilst maintaining the highest standards at all times. The successful candidate will have added responsibilities that will include supporting with all aspects of driver training including Driver’s CPC, along with peer to peer coaching, mentoring, and development.
What you’ll do on a typical day
1. Assist colleagues to enhance their range of skills and potential.
2. Conduct in cab “peer to peer” mentoring and complete the Driver Training Needs Analysis checklist including de-brief (using all available technology) and the creation of individual Driver Development Plans.
3. Conduct driving assessments as part of the driver recruitment process (agency and Royal Mail drivers).
4. Deliver induction training to our new drivers (agency and Royal Mail drivers).
5. Deliver Driver CPC to ensure that all our drivers remain compliant with regulations.
6. Deploy a nationally consistent method of training/coaching of technical, driving and associated skills.
7. Conduct site risk assessments relating to HGV activity.
8. Ensure that all training records and related paperwork is kept accurate and up to date.
9. Responsible for maintaining and documenting their own continuous professional development.
What you need to succeed as an ADC:
1. Be qualified to drive the same category of vehicle that you are supervising the driver in and have held a full clean licence for the category for at least 3 years.
2. Be flexible as the role requires a great deal of flexibility in your hours of attendance depending on the tasks at hand.
3. Have a good level of computer literacy.
4. Be able to maintain confidentiality.
5. Be adaptable and have a willingness to learn.
6. Have good administrative skills.
7. Demonstrate professional expertise and integrity in their current role.
8. Possess an excellent understanding of health and safety policies and procedures.
9. Have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to plan and organise your own workload.
Selection
All professional drivers with a permanent grade the same as the role they are applying for will be able to apply for this post and applications will be assessed through a two-stage process:
1. Complete an ADC personality questionnaire and application form.
2. Stage 2 Assessment – Interview, driving assessment and presentation. Those selected to progress will be asked to give a short presentation/training session.
Given the range of tasks and the accredited nature of the job, the Advanced Driver Coach is considered a specialist role and before final appointment the successful candidate must achieve the relevant ADC training which will be provided by Royal Mail’s Learning Services Team.
Pay:
The current value of the Advanced Driver Coach allowance is:
LGV ADC - £295.42 per month (pro-rated for part-time employees) / MGV ADC - £67.94 per week (pro-rated for part-time employees).
Plus overtime and shift allowance.
Shifts:
You will need to be flexible as the role will involve hours that cover all shift patterns including weekends when required (in line with the shift of the driver you are training). This role will require you to cover driver coaching at MGV operating sites at Medway, Canterbury and Tunbridge.
