Summary As a Ranger, you’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people. It’s all about being outside and getting your hands dirty, delivering vitally important nature conservation and public access work. You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings, and be on call. What it's like to work here Our team of staff and volunteers delivers wonderful land, buildings, historic and wildlife conservation, and access for people. A can-do attitude and positive working with our sister teams looking after our let estate, shops, cafés and holiday cottages in North Cornwall creates a one team approach. From Holywell near Newquay to north of Bude the North Cornwall team has the privilege and challenge of looking after, restoring and sharing with people some of the most stunningly beautiful and busy parts of the North Cornish coast. Strongly shaped by the prevailing Atlantic winds, much of our land comprises cliffs, beaches, coves, cliff top maritime grasslands and open farmland. There are some very special areas of woodland too. Most of the land is rich in natural habitats and ancient monuments resulting in numerous wildlife and archaeological designations. This is an opportunity to contribute to our delivery in the eastern part of the portfolio where we care for over 1220 hectares including Boscastle and its harbour; the highest cliffs in Cornwall near Crackington Haven; the unique Dizzard woodland and the beaches at Sandymouth and Duckpool. You'll join a dedicated and ambitious team. Reporting to the Lead Ranger you'll work closely with the other Rangers in North Cornwall, the Welcome Team as well as our stakeholders and partners including our tenants. What you'll be doing You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task. You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing. You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
