Job summary
We are looking for two enthusiastic and highly motivated colleagues to join our established team of General Paediatricians.
There are two full time, 10 PA, posts available. However, applicants wishing to work less than full time are also encouraged to apply.
There is an opportunity to develop a specialist interest to compliment those already held within the department. A specialist interest in diabetes, endocrinology, oncology, palliative care and acute paediatric medicine would be particularly welcome.
The successful candidate will join existing General Paediatricians in providing general paediatric cover in a hot-week rota 1:7 with a view to imminently become a 1:8. A quality improvement programme is underway to work towards meeting the National Standard of 1:10.

Job responsibilities
3. Provide general in-patient and out-patient paediatric services for children & young people, also for new born infants who require specialist input.
4. Conduct General Paediatrics Outpatient clinics.
5. Integrate into the current Consultant of the Week system for one week in seven with prospective cover. During that week starting on Friday morning the consultant is responsible for all admissions and has no other fixed morning clinics and is on-call over the weekend & for one other night. The consultant will not be expected to work on the Monday afternoon following the weekend on-call nor the following Friday.
6. Share in the on-call responsibilities, including conducting ward rounds when Consultant of the Week.
7. Work within the existing multidisciplinary teams to provide continuity of care.
8. Contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching program.
9. Contribute to the training and supervision of trainee doctors.
10. Fulfil requirements of continuing professional development, clinical governance, and appraisal.
11. Contribute to the strategic and administrative development of the department and local Child Health services.

17. Experience in a special interest that will complement those existing in the department.
