Description & Requirements
Job Purpose:
To lead and motivate a production team during the day shift, ensuring all manufacturing activities are effectively organised and executed, primarily with the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) area. This role also supports through-hole technology processes, with a strong focus on maintaining operational efficiency, adherence to procedures, and driving quality output.
Main Duties:
* Lead and inspire the SMT production team to consistently meet performance, efficiency, and quality targets
* Ensure the team delivers right -first-time assemblies through both SMT flow and selective soldering processes
* Maintain product quality in line with IPC 610 standards to the required class.
* Prepare and manage process control documentation, including routine maintenance records.
* Monitor and align team output with department production targets using the scheduling system
* Accurately complete required documentation and maintain records In line with Quality Management System (QMS)
* Ensure Compliance with all manufacturing processes and associated procedures
* Promote and maintain the highest standard of workmanship while identifying and eliminating waste
* Champion continuous improvement initiatives using lean tools and techniques
* Support the development of team members through performance reviews and tailored personal development plans.
Person Specification:
* Sound knowledge of SMT and through-hole assembly processes, including component verification and value identification.
* Strong understanding of SMT and THT manufacturing techniques
* Experience with Mydata and pick-and-place machines
* Proficient IT skills, particularly Excel, for data analysis and tracking
* Proven experience in a fast-paced, high- pressure manufacturing environment, ideally within a high- mix, low volume setting
* Effective communicator, confident in engaging with staff across all levels
* Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
* Results- driven, with the ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively
* Well organised and capable of managing personal and team workloads independently
* Confident in decision making and taking ownership of outcomes
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, including 5S and Theory of Constraints
* Adaptive leadership style, with the ability to motivate and get the best from diverse team members
* 3+ years in SMT production, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
