ENGINEERING DIRECTOR- GDS INSTRUMENTS

Are you a passionate leader excited at the prospect of leading a growing team of engineers working across the creation and design of material testing, machines and computer software?
If so we here at GDS want to hear from you!
A little more about us… we are an intimate growing SME with 80 employees and GDS products have been used in many world-renowned commercial developments.
GDS Instruments designs, develops and manufactures materials testing machines and software used for the computer-controlled testing of soils and rocks.
This technology is used to evaluate the mechanical properties that are key in geotechnical and earthquake engineering design.
We believe in providing the best equipment for the job combined with first class support from engineers who understand the equipment and have been operating on a global basis since being founded in 1979.

What we’re looking for from you….
Key parts of the role would include:
· Leading and managing the engineering team while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and excellence.
· Establish and execute the product development strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s broader goals and objectives.
· Create and implement a best practice engineering vision to aid and improve business performance
· Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
· Establish and monitor Key Performance
·
What would make you desirable for this role?
· Ideally experience in the development and mechanical design of a product with the appropriate use of electronics and firmware to produce and successfully release a new product to the market.
· Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline; Masters or Ph.D. preferred (not essential)
· Experience of successfully leading an engineering function
· Proven track record of leading successful projects from concept to production
· Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a passion for mentoring and developing talent
· Strong project management skills, consistently delivering within time and budget
· Excellent practical engineering knowledge with the ability to understand and empathise technical challenges
· Exceptional problem-solving skills
