Role overview:
To perform all planned and unplanned mechanical engineering activities relating to the running of an efficient contract and supporting client sites. EMCOR UK are currently seeking a talented Commercial Gas Service and Breakdown Engineer to join our team. As a vital member of our service and maintenance department, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and functionality of gas and mechanical systems within our client’s properties. What you’ll do:
* Ensure that your technical training and development is kept up-to-date.
* Ensure all Planned Preventative and Reactive Maintenance is completed to schedule ensuring that appropriate documentation is completed and submitted in a timely fashion.
* Perform rectification of defects, ensuring all safety and performance standards are met in accordance with the contract.
* Carry out routine maintenance work associated with all mechanical systems.
* Supervise specialist contractors and ensure all certification/documentation is completed in accordance with client and EMCOR requirements.
* Liaise with and respond to the Helpdesk ensuring that urgent maintenance tasks are responded to within appropriate timescales.
* Ensure that good housekeeping and working practices are employed and ensure that you represent EMCOR in a professional manner at all times.
* Perform call out duty as required in accordance with contractual requirements.
* Comply with any reasonable request from line manager.
* Conduct routine commercial servicing and maintenance of gas appliances and mechanical systems in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
* Respond promptly to gas/mechanical breakdowns and emergencies, diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions to restore service.
Key Duties:
* Maintain job time frame and standards of the company by working efficiently and safely with a high quality finish.
* Uphold company values and maintain customer focus by pro-actively solving problems.
* Carry out all works strictly in line with company procedures and all standards within the industry: - Gas Safe, Gas Regulations, code of practice and best practice.
* Repair and perform minor works as and when required for installation call backs or remedial works.
* Attend breakdowns for both commercial and domestic response, to emergency and urgent calls.
* Order parts and manage own jobs to ensure fast resolution to the clients' issues or faults.
* Clear each job from the hand-held device and back office system as they are completed.
* Liaise with Client and Sites as and when required about the works being undertaken.
* Ensure all PPE is present and correct at all times.
* Ensure all equipment is calibrated and in good working order.
* Ensure all appointments are kept and clients are kept informed.
* Carry out duties as required by any senior manager or member of staff representing such manager.
* Stay up to date with all gas safety legislation and codes of practice involving your given discipline.
* Report variations to any works and update the administration department of changes to requirements on site.
* Assist or complete basic quotations onto a standard format.
* Engage and attend all staff briefings and company functions.
* Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
* Liaise with all other engineers and staff to ensure targets are reached, organising electrical works and building works on any given installation.
* Produce a safety certificate or job sheet for all works, and any other reports or records required for the works.
* Participate in Company Callout rota.
Who you’ll be:
* This position requires ONC/OND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant job specific discipline.
* General competence in Commercial and Domestic Gas: CCN1, CPA1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, CODNCO1, TPCP1/A, ICPN1, CDGA1, CIGA.
* Unvented hot water.
* Water regulations.
* Punctuality, professionalism, flexibility and working knowledge of Mobile PDA/Tablet.
* Proven experience within a building services environment.
* Knowledge of PSSR 2000/Confined Space, Legionella, and Permit to Work systems.
* Articulate, numerate and IT literate.
* Understanding of legislative compliance and contract law preferred.
* Understand the cost of poor performance.
* Good all round knowledge of Facility Management and Building Service Engineering.
* The ability to establish, implement and monitor high standards of excellence in areas of quality, safety and operational performance.
* Must be able to demonstrate a successful track record in the field of assurance/health and safety and environment.
* Good decision making and communication skills.
* Be resilient under pressure and able to converse confidently with staff, suppliers and customers at all levels.
* Other factors:
* The individual must be willing to attain an Appointed position (Pressure Systems and/or Confined Spaces).
