The post holder will be required to work autonomously as well part of the immediate and larger teams participating in the holistic assessment of haematology patients. You will give advice, instigate investigations and implement patient care as appropriate to manage the patient, reducing the burden of treatment side effects and symptoms of the disease.
You will provide essential communication to improve patient experience and quality of care, reducing lengths of stay and avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions.
You will support the Band 8a and Lead Consultant in the planning and development of the future service in accordance with the Trust's policies and procedures utilising the most effective resources.
Alongside the haematology team you will provide specialist advice and education to health professionals regarding patients symptoms or side effects, related to the treatment or cancer to improve quality of life.

Job responsibilities
The haematology team are looking for a self-motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic, patient-focused nurse with recent oncology/haematology experience, to help us maintain the delivery of high-quality care to patients referred to our team.
As an Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will holistically assess the patients current needs providing supportive care to improve their quality of life and reduce symptom burden.
You will be an integrated member of the multidisciplinary team working across the whole patient pathway. This will incorporate supporting the patient as required throughout their oncological/haematological pathway. You will be expected to work within the team as well as autonomously, prioritising and managing your caseload and time appropriately.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours
