Role: Category Officer
Location: Hybrid working
Duration: Permanent
Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 per annum + excellent benefits.
Category Officer sought for a public sector organisation based in the South East of England, on a permanent basis to support the category teams and support key stakeholders and suppliers to build a reputation for excellence in the procurement services. The candidate will be experienced in building relationships with existing clients and new clients through delivering a high-quality service.
The Category Officer will be responsible for:
General operational, project and analytical support to the procurement team;
Analyses commercial data and provides information to support initiation and monitoring of procurement projects
Monitors purchasing trends to develop category knowledge and aid the collation of market intelligence
Collates, interprets and presents data to support the development and implementation of the Procurement Strategy
Works with the procurement team in identifying opportunities to conduct opportunity assessments
Assists the Executive Directors and their teams to quantify and validate savings and better practice opportunities across a range of Trust projects
Ensures accurate and timely tracking of project tasks and milestones, as well as benefits.
Management and coordination of the end to end tender and contracting process within the e-Tendering system, including;
Provides support to the Category Manager on opportunity and market analyses
Supports the Category Manager on stakeholder and market engagement
Preparation of tender documentation
Stakeholder and supplier communications
Tender evaluation and bid assessment
Contract award
Attendance at meetings at various Hospitals and venues throughout the region/country. Preparing documents and writing up notes of meetings
Delivering presentations to large groups both internal and external.
Essential Skills for the Category Officer the role:
Degree or Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent
Essential procurement experienced including negotiation skills, statistical and data analysis skills, EU procurement directives or PCR 2015, purchasing knowledge
Excellent working knowledge of procurement systems
Expert user of MS office, including excel, word, powerpoint
Excellent MS Excel skills - Vlookup, SumIf and CountIf, If and IfError, Multi-layer nested formulane, relative and absolute references, pivot tables, charts and pivot charts.
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Resolving queries and influencing people
Analysis of multiple data sets across a broad multi-customer economy
Attention to detail
Methodical and tenacious.
