The role will require a calm, patient approach with the ability to de-escalate situations and provide encouragement in a variety of activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support to the student, particularly when frustration arises due to emotional difficulties
* Support the student in engaging with his interests in car mechanics, sports, Xbox, and cooking, while encouraging positive behaviour and communication
* Help the student manage negative or confrontational behaviour, especially when triggered by stern voices or frustration
* Offer strategies for emotional regulation and conflict resolution
* Foster a positive and respectful learning environment to ensure the student feels supported and understood
* Encourage independence and build the student’s confidence in his abilities and interests
* Collaborate with the wider team to support the student’s academic and social development
Essential Skills & Qualities:
* Experience or understanding of working with students with ASD and ADHD
* Ability to support the student in managing frustration and helping them regulate emotions
* Calm, patient, and empathetic approach, particularly when dealing with confrontational behaviour
* Strong communication skills to build rapport with the student and offer emotional support
* Interest or knowledge in the student’s hobbies and interests (such as car mechanics, sports, Xbox, and cooking)
* Experience in behaviour management techniques, particularly when working with students who have difficulties managing emotions
This role presents an excellent opportunity to work closely with a talented and energetic student, supporting him in developing his emotional regulation skills and building confidence in his abilities. If you are patient, understanding, and skilled in supporting students with emotional and behavioural challenges, we want to hear from you!
