Our client, a global operator is seeking an experienced Geologist on a contract basis in Aberdeen or London. Flexible working arrangements. ROLE Role is within the Reservoir Studies & Simulation team which is responsible for delivery of quality subsurface studies in support of the asset work programmes. RESPONSIBILITIES Work with asset subsurface team and RSS team members to evaluate targets that are shortlisted within the asset target hopper. Play critical role in timely delivery of the subsurface concept, incremental production potential and risk definition for each target that is progresses through the target maturation process. Interrogate and, if need be, construct / update geological models (in Petrel) which will inform the target maturation process. Using the asset models, investigate impact of geological uncertainty on incremental volumes and subsurface risk attributed to the targets. Present and defend work to internal and external assurance teams and stakeholders as necessary. Provide ad-hoc support to other developments projects that may require input in your discipline, including covering discipline in technical assurance reviews occasionally. REQUIREMENTS Demonstrable track record of judicious application of Geology knowledge and skills, preferably including development projects, with experience in: A variety of structural setting and the impact these have on deposition, compartmentalisation, and reservoir quality. Integrating multidisciplinary data to establish coherent understanding of the subsurface and the uncertainties that matter for field development decisions. Knowledge and recent experience in planning and building geological models and in uncertainty analysis workflows. Competent Petrel user and able to coach others. Identification and evaluation of well targets, target hopper management Well planning and operations, including data acquisition planning and operations experience Good understanding of the integration of geology with other disciplines including geophysics, petrophysics, reservoir engineering, drilling, completions and production technology. Sound data analysis and geostatistical understanding, with a broad understanding of geological uncertainty Ability to incorporate geological and other subsurface uncertainties into geomodelling and target maturation workflows to test robustness of infill targets concepts. Strong sense of accountability and ability to work to short deadlines, delivering timely results without compromising on integrity or detail where appropriate. Ability to characterise and succinctly articulate the subsurface issues and recommendations to other relevant disciplines and management. Agile in adapting to changes as technical work matures. Strong oral and written communication skills, Advanced level command of Petrel At a minimum, have: Graduate or Post-graduate degree in geology / geosciences or relevant subject Proven industry track record of infill target identification and maturation within integrated multi-disciplinary teams Advanced level command of Petrel
