Climatec Ltd is a small engineering company based in Watford, Herts. We specialise in B2B services, our main business is the design and manufacture of bespoke environmental testing solutions for a range of industries including aerospace/space exploration, automotive, military, manufacturing, and engineering.
We also carry out the preventative maintenance, servicing, modification/refurbishment, repair & calibration services for clients on our own and all other makes of environmental test equipment and refrigeration systems. Please see our website for more information.
We have a total of 15 staff, of which 4 are workshop-based (2 x electrical wiremen & 2 x workshop fitters.
We would like to offer an opportunity for a trainee workshop fitter, who’s primary role once fully trained would include, as a minimum:
• The assembly of copper to copper and copper to brass/steel refrigeration pipework systems/components, utilising oxy-acetylene brazing and silver soldering techniques, pipe bending/measuring, flaring/swaging and oxygen-free nitrogen purge methods
• Reading and understanding/interpreting schematic drawings for the above pipework systems and working independently to implement them
• General assembly, installing sheet metal linings, hinges/door mechanisms, seals, windows, luminaires (mechanical aspect only), support systems & enclosures, using hand and power tools such as drills, tap & die sets, files, angle grinders, jigsaws & hacksaws, also pillar drill, bench grinder and bandsaw among others
• Involvement in movement of heavy machinery around the workspace utilising skates, block and tackle, slings, engine hoist, ratchet straps and toe jacks
• Regular assistance to senior engineers on site-based projects, carrying out refrigeration pipework installation, movement of machinery, assembly of modular panel-room structures & general site activities such as installing support structures, pulling in cable looms, installing local drainage, general tidying and housekeeping
• Once fully trained, carrying out above and similar types of site installation work, working both independently and with other staff
• Opportunity longer term to follow a specific path within the company, such as refrigeration field service engineer, wireman, commissioning engineer and Workshop supervision & management.
Experience of working with tools in a workshop environment preferred but not essential, full training will be given and a good attitude, willingness to learn and a ‘can do’ attitude are essential. Full UK driving license also preferred.
